Online Recruitment - A quick summary

Online recruitment, or E-Recruitment as it is often referred to, involves the use of technology to attract and recruit candidates.

A study conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management in 2008 suggested that a staggering 96% of jobseekers search and apply for jobs online.

Figures from The British Market Research Bureau suggest that online recruitment is the favoured job-hunting method for one in four UK adults. Many candidates use online sites to register for job alerts by email and to register their CV.

The use of technology for recruitment and selection purposes continues to increase. The CIPD 2008 Recruitment survey shows 75% of organsations used their own website in 2007 to try and attract candidate applications.

Online recruitment provides many methods to attract candidates.

Some of the main methods involve:

•     Job site advertising
•     Corporate website
•     CV databases
•     Search marketing or Google PPC campaigns
•     Social networks
•     Blogs

Research from the CIPD highlights that the key drivers behind companies adopting online recruitment include:

•     Reducing recruitment costs
•     Speeding up time to hire
•     Enlarging the selection pool
•     Providing greater flexibility for candidates
•     Strengthening of the employer brand.

VONQ likes to keep online recruitment as simple as possible.
